Giving Young People a Voice Online: Our Work with Childline’s Where We Stand
At Cowshed Collective, we’re passionate about creating content that doesn’t just entertain audiences but gives them a platform to be heard. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to have partnered with Childline and the NSPCC to develop and deliver Where We Stand — a brand-new four-part series designed to put young people’s voices at the centre of one of the most important conversations of our time: online safety.
In a digital world that is constantly evolving, understanding how young people experience life online has never been more important. From the rise of artificial intelligence and ever-changing algorithms to conversations around social media regulation, today’s teenagers are navigating challenges and opportunities that previous generations never faced.
Where We Stand was created to explore exactly that.
Across four episodes, creators Faith Kelly, Manrika Khaira and Tays join Childline to uncover what 100 teenagers really think about the online world. Through honest discussions, surprising insights and thought-provoking questions, the series challenges assumptions about young people’s digital lives while creating space for them to share their perspectives openly and authentically.
The concept is simple but powerful: rather than talking about young people, we wanted to hear directly from them.
At a time when discussions around social media restrictions for under-16s continue to make headlines, ensuring that young people’s voices are included in the conversation feels more relevant than ever. The series highlights the realities of growing up online today and reveals the differences in how this new generation views topics such as online safety, social media, technology and digital wellbeing.
This project was a truly collaborative effort from start to finish. Working closely with the teams at Childline and the NSPCC, we developed a format that prioritised authentic youth perspectives and meaningful conversation. Every stage of the process was guided by a shared goal: creating content that reflects the experiences, concerns and opinions of young people in a way that feels genuine and impactful.
For us, this is exactly the kind of work that matters. Content has the power to spark conversations, challenge perceptions and create understanding, and Where We Stand demonstrates what can happen when young people are given the opportunity to speak for themselves.
We’re honoured to have played a role in bringing this important series to life and incredibly proud of what the teams involved have created together.
Most importantly, we’re proud that the voices of 100 young people are now being heard.
